The University of Brighton has one of the best teaching quality ratings in the UK and a strong research record, factors which contribute to its reputation as a leading post-1992 university.Brighton’s courses are informed by the latest professional knowledge. Partners in industry contribute to course development and teaching and the staff combine professional practice with teaching and research activity. About 85% of first-years are offered a place in residence halls. The University is extending its Varley Park halls of residence close to its Brighton campuses. New social facilities, including a bar, restaurant and a fitness suite were completed in 2012 and continued work will increase the total number of bedrooms to more than 2,000.

The university has opened a £7.6m sports centre at the Falmer campus and the £23m Huxley building provides a new home for work in pharmacy and biosciences at the Moulescoomb campus. The campus in Hastings has a new building in the town centre, which has doubled the students places to more than 1,000.

London is less than an hour by train. Gatwick airport and Newhaven port are both nearby. Eastbourne is about 40 minutes away from Brighton by car and Hastings is about an hour from the city.
